Overview
An all-time classic mountain running event, The
Imogene Pass Run (IPR) is a point-to-point mountain race within the western San Juan mountains of Colorado, run along a route which connects the iconic mountain towns of Ouray (7810 ft.) and Telluride (8750 ft.) by way of the spectacular 13,114 foot Imogene Pass
Need to Know
The IPR caps at about 1,500 entrants with registration typically opening around June 1. If you want to participate, you'd better be at your computer with your finger on the trigger the second registration opens. Registration info plus a wealth of other beta on this historic running event may be found at ImogeneRun.com
Description
The point-to-point IPR starts on Main St in Ouray and follows dirt / 4x4 roads through four star scenery over Imogene Pass. Once at the top of the pass, prepare your joints for orbital re-entry into the town of Telluride. Enjoy a Virtual Run of the course from this page. A detailed course description (down to the tenth of a mile) may be found on IPR's website.
History & Background
The San Juan Mountains are steeped in history, so it is only fitting that the IPR is one Colorado's original mountain races.
