Description
This trail makes a direct route from the Badger Valley Trail to the
Grand Ridge Trail. The trail is steep with little tree cover throughout the trail.
The trail starts at a well-marked junction and heads straight up, North, from the valley floor in an open grassy area. From here, the trail will cut over Eastward in and out of some sparse tree protection.
After just over .5 miles, the trail will turn Northward with a few switchbacks. Soon after this you'll completely run out of the trees and you'll be going straight up a rocky but solid trail. From here, the views are magnificent of the surrounding peaks and the valley floor below.
At 1.3 miles, you'll reach a junction with
Grand Ridge Trail. This junction is well-marked.
There will be a point in this trail where you are scrambling around on loose rock with a major drop-off below you. If you are not comfortable with exposure, it may not be best trail to use.
Flora & Fauna
Marmots. Lots of wildflowers in mid to late summer.
