Runner Notes
A little grabby in spots. Roots, rocks, and ditching. Tough run up, but a great ride down.
Description
The Upper Big Creek Loop is a great spot to get some work in. The payoff is different here. You won't get any great views, but you'll be rewarded with the sounds of No-Name, Skinwood, Big, and Branch Creeks most of the way.
Wooden bridges cross all of the creeks, make sure you take the time to go down to the confluence of Big and Branch Creeks.
This trail can be equally enjoyed in either a clockwise or counterclockwise path. Clockwise gets you to the top in a little shorter distance and allows for a nice path out. There is, however, a long grind up a fairly steep section. If you choose to go counterclockwise, the trek up is a little easier, but longer, and you'll get a little pounded on the steeper descent.
In the summertime, head down to Lake Cushman and jump in to wash off the sweat.
