A ridge-top trail, above 10,000 feet.

From an intersection with Skyline Trail, follow this trail steeply to the top of Santa Fe Baldy and gaze down upon Lake Kathrine and know that it is ice-cold. Shake it off and continue north along the obvious ridge to the rocky top of an unnamed peak about 3 miles away.

Turn around and make your way back along the ridge. There are bits and pieces of the trail, but it is not hard to follow the ridge when they disappear. Just before the top of Baldy you can detour to the east and pick your way down to the lake. From the beautiful shore of this alpine jewel, you can find the Winsor trail and climb back out to Windy Pass.
