Runner Notes

An abundance of embedded and loose rock on the trail that can make for technical running with possible danger of turned ankles and tripping.

Description

From the 51st Avenue trailhead, follow the only trail leading west. Continue across a paved neighborhood access road when it is reached. Follow the trail west and then up the switchbacks. Watch for trail markers, though they are sparse. From the ramada, continue north to the Pinnacle Peak trailhead and then head west across 59th Avenue.

After crossing, head south, parallel to 59th Ave, past the bridge and then left at the next junction. Cross the paved park road and head left. Immediately before the next parking area, make a left and cross the park road. From this point, the trail is poorly marked and will require a little creativity to continue on it.

Head south toward the homes, through the wash and up the small dam to the trail where you'll continue west. Turn left at the next fork and follow the trail up the rocky climb and around the hill. At the next junction, you'll continue straight. Take a right at the next junction and follow the trail to the 67th Ave trailhead.

Flora & Fauna

Springtime flowers on the Palo Verde trees and cactus flora. Watch for rabbits, lizards, coyote, and snakes on the trail.
