Description

The Collie Ridge Trail is an accessible trail that leads to trails deeper in the Mammoth Cave backcountry. The main trailhead (called the Lincoln Trailhead) is found at the perimeter of the national park on Ollie Road and boasts wide and smooth travel.

Running from the trailhead, the overall angle is slightly downhill along a ridge that affords views of the creeks and hollows nestled below old growth Kentucky forest. The Collie Ridge Trail is a feeder to many other trails in the backcountry, including the 1.6-mile Blair Spring Hollow Trail, 6.3-mile Raymer Hollow Trail, 2.9-mile Mill Branch Trail and terminates at the intersection of the Buffalo Creek Trail and Wet Prong Trail near the Collie Ridge Campsite, which is another .7 miles on an access trail.

The Collie Ridge Trail is a perfect artery to deeper trails and endless loop possibilities within the park.

This is on an incline somewhere between mile five and six of the Buffalo Creek-Collie Ridge loop. This trail is either some variation of rocky (pictured), muddy, or sandy.

The terminus of the Wet Prong Trail. The Buffalo Creek Trail enters from the left, the Collie Ridge Trail starts behind me and the Wet Prong begins to the right. And there is a trash can here!
