Dogs Leashed
Runner Notes
Trail is muddy and slippery after rain, but you can usually skirt the mud. It is also very steep in some sections so wear proper trail shoes with good traction.
Notwithstanding risk of gashing yourself, it is a rush of fun running this at high speed, leaping from turn to turn, testing your coordination and agility!
Description
Part of the
Fremont Older Open Space Loop. The trail is mostly down trending and in some sections very much so. It plunges relentlessly into shady timberland and gains so much speed that it becomes necessary to check your momentum so you don't lose control of your stride and balance.
One part feels like an obstacle course challenge as it switches back and forth like a sidewinder snake on steep terrain. If using this trail in the suggested direction it does not directly link back to the beginning; it deposits you in the neighborhood at the base of the park and you must turn left and left again onto Prospect Road to arrive at your vehicle.
