Start at the parking lot on Foy's Lake Road and share this trail with the Notch Trail until they break from the road. This trail briefly shares the route with the Direct Route and splits with a right-hand bend that continues up the hill. This is marked with a trail sign. Take the right and continue the shallow climb.

After 200m, there is a hard left-hand switch to continue the Family Trail. You could continue straight on a small connector back to Plum Creek Road and Notch Trail which allows some good opportunity to bail if you have weaker runners or small kids and still enjoy a nice descent to the parking lot.

After making the left turn, the trail gets a little steeper in spots but is mostly an easy haul. Half the way up there is another intersection with the Direct Route, so keep a look out for other trail users crossing your path. After another few hundred meters you'll make the final right-hand turn and scuttle up the remaining singletrack. The trail will spit you out on the Plum Creek Road directly in front of a map kiosk and the intersection of several other trails for your enjoyment.
