Runner Notes
One mile up - one mile down. The eastern part is more open and can be run along the Pell Hill access road or through the trails by the campgrounds.
Description
The
Orange Trail starts uphill near the Trailside Nature Museum. Near the top of the loop, it crosses a small seasonal stream then heads east, eventually turning back downhill through the campgrounds and playground areas. The trail can go via the paved Pell Hill access road or through the woods back to the Trailside Nature Museum.
Note:Hurricane damage, a few years back, has altered the course of the original
Orange Trail a bit.
Flora & Fauna
The Trailside Nature Museum has taxidermy examples of local wildlife. There is also a fenced in wildflower garden (to protect from feasting deer). The museum has a birdfeeder and observation window (with binoculars) for observing local birds.
