Description

From the junction with West Ridge Trail, the trail continues climbing through wooded hills, up to Rimrock. The first 0.5 mile takes you through tall stand of birches and across a few creeks (watch out for mud on this section!). The trail flattens for a moment, before steepening as the trail transition from nice singletrack to a mix of bedrock, roots and boulders. This section can get icy in the winter, so be careful! Gradually the bedrock dominates the trail and you find yourself scrambling up to Rimrock and the junction with Skyland Trail.

Continuing north, the trail becomes more gentle as it winds it ways across granite rises before topping out by a large cairn (definitely stop here for the view!). From there head north down into a small valley and into dense trees, before popping up on the other side. Another 0.25 mi of bedrock takes you to the lower range hut, where the trail intersects the Clark Trail.
