Trail Run Project Logo

A fine example of desert singletrack that doesn't waste any time getting to the scenic sections.

Runner Notes

Be sure to bring plenty of water as there is none at the trailhead. Avoid the parking lot and trails during rainy weather due to flash flooding and be sure to stop when you enjoy the amazing vistas so you don't end up in a cactus or going over the edge.

Description

From the parking lot, follow signage for the P1 Pollock Bench Trail as it winds uphill. Around 1.6 miles from the parking lot you'll reach a junction. The trail is great in either direction, but the downhill is most enjoyable when the trail is right along the canyon's rim. So, head left at the junction and at the top of the next climb you'll reach a junction with the Flume Canyon Trail network.

Stay right to reach the spectacular section along the edge of the canyon's rim. After a couple of miles on the edge you'll reach a junction heading uphill to the right for horses, stay to the left along the canyon edge until you reach the next junction which should have signs showing the Rattlesnake Canyon Arches Trail - R1 heading off to the left.

Go right to stay on the P1 - Pollock Bench Trail. After the short steep climb out, stay left at the next junction to avoid the horse cut-off that goes back to the rim, and then enjoy the smooth trail as it winds across the mesa top through grasses and cacti. Back at the first junction of the day stay left to head back to the parking lot. A classic desert loop!
