A very rocky, rooty, and steep trail. Excellent views of alpine fields surrounded by the divide.

Description

Part of the Continental Divide Trail, the High Lonesome Trail brings you from the Fraser Valley up to the Indian Peaks Wilderness. After the moderately difficult ascent, enjoy an easy 3-mile stretch of level terrain at the top of Devil's Thumb Pass to Corona Pass. Here you'll enjoy the views back towards Winter Park and Grand County, as well as the Front Range towns of the greater Denver metropolitan area.

September 2020 storm left moderate blow down on lower traverse, but the climb up to Devil's Thumb Pass was virtually impassible with piles of trees
