Runner Notes

Mostly packed dirt. Some bermed sections, some erosion and loose rock.

Description

The Saddle Ridge Trail starts low, near the highway from mid-way along the Avon Singletree Connector ASC Trail. The grade is a consistent pitch, just enough to provide a good workout.

The trail has suffered some significant erosion and initially climbs alongside a jumbled ravine. There are several old, defunct trails in this area, so please observe closures and stay on the main trail.

Soon you leave the canyon and begin a series of long switchbacks up the parched hillside. You would be forgiven for stopping for a breather and to admire the views of Beaver Creek ski area and the town of Avon. The trail eventually intersects with PB&J before ending at a complicated, partially signed junction with the mountain bike descent, Lee's Way Down.

Bikes are allowed on the Saddle Ridge Trail, so keep an ear out for them.

Flora & Fauna

Sage, pinyon, cactus, cedar, scrub. Some drought-tolerant wildflowers. Hawks.
