Runner Notes
Some singletrack, some old dirt roads, some bushwacking.
Description
Typical parking is on the corner where Bark Haul Rd. meets Pondside Rd. From there either parking lot head south on a wide trail or head west on a gated road. The main loop is just under two miles with lots of little side trails, many of which dead end or swamp out. Some of the trail is an actual boardwalk over the swamp.
Flora & Fauna
I've seen multiple eagles, pileated woodpeckers, herons, at least ten varieties of ducks, swans, hawks and owls in the refuge. I've also seen signs of coyotes and plenty of deer tracks as well. If you manage to bushwhack your way to the CT River you'll see the largest poison ivy vines in the region.
