Runner Notes
This trail gets a lot of horse use and can be muddy in the spring. Sometimes it can be very windy as well.
Description
Starting at the northern terminus near Larkspur, the Greenland Trail starts with a gentle climb on a smooth trail. After about a mile, you'll pass the junction with the
Kipps Loop Trail, a trail that goes up and over the saddle. Continue to run straight.
A bit farther, you'll run around a small lake and pass the
Luge Trail junction and start a short climb up to the power lines. Here you'll go through some sage oak and then drop down to the
Old Territorial Road.
Follow the sign that points you to the left. The trail becomes a dirt road for the remainder of the climb to Palmer Lake.
Flora & Fauna
Numerous wildflowers abound on this trail. Keep an eye open for rattlesnakes.
