Dogs Leashed
Open year round, park closes at dusk.
Runner Notes
There are lots of small roots; the trail is very leafy in the early fall.
Description
A small yet lovely section of forest adjoining the Central Elementary property.
Low grades and a flowing trail with small obstacles (mostly roots) make this a simple run through a uniquely fern-filled and green section of forest, especially in the summer.
This trail is easily accessed from the Middle Road parking area. Proceed east across the open gravel lot and follow the gravel road approximately 100 meters until the trail appears on your left, entering the woods just above the small stream crossing (one step and you're over it).
Flora & Fauna
This is a rather diverse forest for such a small section. Hawks frequent the area and deer are abundant in Hartwood (its name is appropriate).
