The Grindstone Lake trail system is popular among hikers, runners, bikers, and the occasional horseback rider, particularly in the summer months. Use caution when sharing the trail with other users.

Fisherman's Trail is a recent add-on to the Grindstone Lake trail system. Short and close to parking, it is an easy, quick glimpse into the well-made network of trails reaching deep into the canyon.

The trail's western end branches off from a dirt access road. It can be reached by either turning off of Grindstone Lake Trail after a mile, or taking the road itself, which is about half the distance. Both options come together near the point where Fisherman's starts, with a sign marking the beginning.

The trail is an easy dirt singletrack. Climbs are brief and won't pose a challenge to experienced trail users. After passing through pine trees, the path nears the western edge of the lake and follows it around to its south side. Use caution near the southwest corner, where the trail makes a short climb up some rocks. They can be slippery in wet weather.

The trail runs alongside Grindstone Lake Trail near a small alcove on the lake's southern tip. Runners who parked at the main lot could double back here for a short loop. Fisherman's continues east along the lake to the dam, where it descends near a dirt road. This marks the end point of the trail, as defined by local maps. The dirt road continues forward to a parking area, the disc golf course, and Grindstone Stables. Runners wanting to loop back to the main trailhead can connect via Resort Drive.
