The Two Springs Trail is a trail that connects River Styx Spring and Echo River Spring that begin in Mammoth Cave and emerge as they flow toward the Green River. To access the trail, you can either hike down the River Styx Spring Trail from the visitor center or hike from the Green River Ferry parking lot along the Echo River Spring Trail. If you hike down from the visitor center, you arrive at the trail junction where you can take a moment to hike out to the platform to enjoy views of the River Styx Spring. From here, the trail climbs up the hill and goes above the spring on a wooden boardwalk where you can enjoy views of the Spring and the river/creek as it makes its way toward the Green River. Form here, the trail becomes a narrow, singletrack dirt trail that rolls gently through the forest. For birders, there are a number of birds that can be seen flying between the trees. Deer can be seen feeding in the woods or drinking from the river. Shortly after leaving the boardwalk, the Sunset Point Trail breaks off to the left and climbs up to Sunset Point where you can enjoy beautiful views later in the day. Continuing for another quarter of a mile through the woods, you'll notice what appears to be an old house on the left side of the trail. This building, the "CCC Chlorinating House," dates back to the 1930s and served as a "state of the art sewage treatment facility." Shortly after passing the house, the River Valley Trail climbs up the hill to the left and leads to Mammoth Dome Sink. Continuing straight ahead for another two tenths of a mile, the trail emerges at the junction with the ADA accessible Echo River Spring Trail where you can see the Echo River Spring and see how it differs from the River Styx Spring. From here, you can retrace your steps back to the visitor center or take some of the other trails that connect with this trail to make your way back up the hill and enjoy more of what the park
