Description
Enjoy pristine blue waters and a lush, eastern hemlock forest as you relax in solitude along the Hemlock Pond Trail.
While there are multiple parking areas available to Hemlock Pond Trail users, the easiest access is from the Crater Lake Parking Area.
Starting from the Crater Lake Trailhead, head counterclockwise along the Crater Lake, continuing through a junction with the AT: New York-New Jersey Trail Conference (NY/NJ) along a winding trail until reaching a junction with the Hemlock Pond Trail. Journey along the Hemlock Pond Trail in either direction, taking time to relish in the beautiful scenery around you, and maybe even dip your toes in the pond's cool, clear waters. Along the way, the trail surface is a mixture of easily-navigable roots, small rocks, and smooth-treaded dirt.
After completing the loop around the Hemlock Pond, visitors can either return the way they came, or extend their run along the
Blue Mountain Lake Trail (Outer Loop).
Flora & Fauna
As the name suggests, this area is rich with tall, majestic eastern hemlock.
