Overview
This route is mostly covered and ventures through wooded trails that are well maintained and marked. Great place to get a run in while the rest of the family plays at the adjoining playground. The route marked takes you around two of the three loop trails this park offers.
Need to Know
Restrooms onsite, water fountains on site (turned off in winter). Spray for bugs in summer. Watch for snakes.
Runner Notes
There are a few water crossings most have small wooden bridges, although during the winter and rainy periods other areas collect water (not running water) mostly in the
North Prong Loop.
Description
Start at main trailhead (there are 3 trails that start here). Follow the
Inkberry Loop Trail markings (orange circles) straight from parking lot on gravel trail. This portion is followed counter clockwise and will split off from the education trail about 0.25 mi. in.
Continue on
Inkberry Loop Trail down a gradual slope and across a small creek. Beyond that is some singletrack through some close trees. Once out of there you follow an access road briefly before climbing back up the hill. Another short trip on an access road gets you to the trail heading back to the parking lot (follow the markings they are easy to see).
Once back at the parking lot, follow the sidewalk past the pavilion to the
North Prong Loop. This loop will also be taken counter clockwise. Just past the pavilion will be a short trail leading to a small clearing (this is overflow parking) follow the clearing until you pick up the blue square markers that lead through a picket fence.
At this point, you'll begin a gradual descent to another water crossing (with a bridge) past the first bridge. You'll begin to work your way back to the finish which is uphill, of course. At the top of the hill, the trail joins back with the Education Trail first then the Inkberry Trail before leading you out to the parking lot.
