Runner Notes
With incredible views and rolling terrain, this makes for an excellent run.
Description
Visitors who know a little bit about the Gold Rush will enjoy the chance to take in a little bit of history in conjunction with the wonderful scenery offered on this trail.
The trail starts out on a ridgeline, which it follows all the way to Gold Bluffs Beach. You'll still have to gain the ridge, and this trail starts with a heart pumping climb. Luckily, once you're past the initial climb, you'll mostly descend on your way to the water.
As you run, take in the natural beauty around you. Dense redwoods provide ample shade, and the going is pleasant. Keep in mind that this exact same route was used by miners in the mid-1800's. Can you see any flecks of gold in the surrounding terrain?
As the trail nears its end, you'll be able to hear the telltale crash of waves, and soon expansive views of the Gold Bluffs will open up. The going from here is mellow, and you'll enjoy a final slope to the beach. Once you've enjoyed the sand and the views, head back the way you came.
Those wishing to extend their stay overnight can do so at the Miner's Ridge Trail Camp, and the Gold Bluffs Beach Campground.
