Description
This trail is generally done as an out and back, but can be used to to create a variety of loop options. The trail winds up from the parking pull out area along looser and semi-rocky terrain, crossing streams and winding through forest, aspen groves and up to meadows in the heart of Golden Gate Canyon.
It climbs about 900 ft, and the trail can be wider in some sections and more narrow singletrack as you get higher. A popular day route, this is also used to access the backcountry camping areas in and around Fraser meadows area. There are some spur trails to access the camping areas, but trending right as you are going uphill will take you up to past the Greenfield Meadow and towards Fraser Meadow.
There is a spring (maybe seasonal) up near the campgrounds. This trails ends at a junction with the
Mule Deer Trail.
