Description

This trail actually connects with Liberty Spring about 0.6 miles from the Liberty Spring Trailhead. The first two miles contain very little elevation gain and are a nice warmup. There are a few stream crossings that could be tricky based on water level, but nothing crazy. The final half mile is almost entirely scrambling/climbing. It's a difficult stretch that can be dicey in spots, especially if wet, but also can provide excellent views. Once connected to the Franconia Ridge Trail, it's a short run to the top of Mount Flume. If starting at the Liberty Spring Trailhead, this trail makes for a nice loop that involves summiting Mount Flume and Mount Liberty and descending back down Liberty Spring.
