Description

From the trailhead, take the trail to the right that has the informational sign and the half-log bench next to it. The trail begins by traversing some creek beds before heading over a rock ridge. This first 1/2 mile of the trail has sporadic shade as it is primarily over rocky terrain.

Soon it enters a mixed forest of manzanita, black oak, sugar pine, yellow pine, and white fir. The trail continues to ascend the western flank of Keller Peak there are points where the view opens up, and you can see the high San Gabriel Mountains to the west. After about 4 miles, the black oak disappears and the terrain becomes rocky again.

The trail comes to an end at Keller Peak Road which you can continue on to the summit. You can also take your time to browse around the Children's Forest Interpretive Trail that is just a few steps from the end of this trail or just enjoy the journey back down the mountain.
