The South Trail can be accessed from the southern end of the North Trail. It is not as well maintained/traveled as the North Trail but does offer two backpacking camps. There is also a nice cliff that has been cut by the River Aux Vases at the horseshoe bend that the trail follows along.

Be prepared for a somewhat lengthy journey if embarking on this trail, as the North Trail is 6+miles in length, and this loop adds an additional 4 miles.
