Kepler Park closes for the winter, but you can still access the ROW trail through the area. As usual, respect trails during breakup and other muddy times.
Runner Notes
This route includes rolling hills. The silt surfaces can be slick when wet.
Description
This trail is generally a wide dirt trail connecting the private Kepler Park with
Long Lake Loop and other trails in Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area. There is a gravel ROW that leads through the private park to a wide dirt trail (actually old road, partly grown in) in the state park. This continues up past the
Victor Lake Loop (singletrack to access lakes, more of an angler's trail) to
Long Lake Loop.
Note that Victor Lake is sometimes called Triangle Lake, esp. on USGS maps, but local maps, like ADF&G (Fish and Game) use Victor Lake for stocking data. On interactive maps, you may see the name change, depending on level of zooming.
If you don't want to use the Kepler Park facilities, please park along the gravel road leading to the bridge between Kepler and Bradley Lakes. Their outhouses and trash services are for their clients. Please respect that. This park is more visible from the highway than the Matanuska Lakes SRA is so they've had a lot of issues over the years with their facilities being used by general public rather than their clients. Please respect their adjacent private property.
You can, however, pay to use their facilities and enjoy picknicking, paddleboating, and other neat activities. It's a great place to be on hot summer days. For more information,

Flora & Fauna
The usual birch and spruce abound along the trail. Adjacent vegetation changes from well drained to poorly drained as the trail goes over hills and down vales.
