Runner Notes

Tui Mine tailings contain toxic chemicals and water should not be drunk from the trail or streams near the trail in this section of the Forest Park.

Description

Entering the Forest Park at the junction with the Tui Domain Track the track passes an old concrete explosives magazine, crosses the Mountain Road and meanders through lowland forest of püriri and kohekohe.

Ascending gradually at first, the track climbs to Tui saddle above old mine tailings and abandoned mine shafts.
