If it gets muddy they close the trail - please respect these closures to keep the trail nice.
Runner Notes
It can be rocky, but nothing too bad.
Description
From the parking lot, look for the trail dropping down to the east - you can get to it straight from the parking lot if you look around or just go to the road and stay on the same side of the road you parked on.
The trail is shaded to start, and drops down immediately, winding down and down. There are a couple of spots where you'll see the road and even a couple trails heading off to the left into Cutler Basin. After it levels out, it starts to climb again but fairly gradually and on an even grade. A couple of wooden bridges cross the small creek. Next thing you know, you'll be crossing the paved road and starting the
Mule Ear Trail.
Flora & Fauna
Wildflowers, gorgeous colorful leaves in the fall, and moose are prevalent.
