Description

Fort Caroline has a rich and storied history that memorializes the short-lived French presence in sixteenth century Florida. While exploring the area, runners will be treated to stories of exploration, survival, religious disputes, territorial battles, and first contact between American Indians and Europeans. Be sure to stop by the visitor center for more information about the history of the area.

The Hammock Trail is a flat, wide, and relatively easy jaunt along the St. Johns River and through a beautifully wooded area. Enjoy the shade and be sure to take the time to take in the views at Fort Caroline.
