Runner Notes
Paved and easy to follow, this is a great place for a quick workout.
Description
This trail can be accessed from Westmoreland Rd. in Cornelius or from Sam Furr Rd. in Huntersville. Going from south to north is more accessible if you don't live nearby because the south trailhead is near one of the entrances to Birkdale Village. Parking is available near there and is usually ample. If you want to join in the middle, you can start your run in Robbins Park using the Robbins Park trails to access the Greenway.
The Greenway is completely paved from start to finish and is very straight with little change in altitude. Bikes, leashed dogs, families, joggers and walkers all use the trail. It follows behind a couple of neighborhoods, there is a pond and a couple of bridges.
It is great for a quick mile and a half of urban exercise.
Flora & Fauna
It is a cleared area. You pass some pine/hardwood forests on the west. There are some wildflowers and trees planted along the way.
