Runner Notes
Though the area is popular on the weekend, the well maintained trail is perfect for a quick mile loop.
Description
This "lollipop" shaped trail is a perfect route for those seeking to enjoy some great views of the Dakota Hogback without having to worry about tricky footing. Leaving from the main parking area, look for this obvious path heading north. You'll find yourself among beautiful sandstone fins, and this path gives you ample time to admire them. The footing is good, and the trail is well groomed through its entire length, meaning that you won't have to worry about looking down at your feet.
While this route heads counterclockwise around the looped part of the trail, feel free to explore this trail any direction that you'd like. Either way, you'll drop some elevation on the way to Persse Place, and then you'll have to make up that elevation change on the return journey. Grades are slight, and the going is easy, so you won't strain yourself on this loop. Instead, take in the views and the sunshine before making your way back to the car!
