Description

The Linney Creek Trail is a half-mile trail that begins near the intersection of Draw Creek and Linney Creek at the end of Forest Road 58-240. The trail traverses a steep side slope above Linney Creek for the first quarter-mile. When the trail turns right (around the ridge) at 0.3 mile, the confluence of Linney Creek and Salmon River can be seen. Shortly after the viewpoint, the trail splits.

One fork of the trail goes left (west) down to a moderate ford and a large campsite. The right fork stays higher, then drops to the site of a washed out bridge. There is a large swimming hole here. Once across the river, the trail ends at its junction with the Salmon River Trail #742. Be cautious when trying to find a log or a safe ford crossing.

Flora & Fauna

Mountain hemlock, western red cedar, and Douglas fir mingle with true firs. Rhododendron and bear grass are plentiful. This area is very remote and evidence of mountain lions, bobcats, and other true wildlife can be found, although it is unlikely that you'll see them.
