This route circles open field, offering opportunities to see eastern bluebirds, red-tailed hawks, and a variety of butterflies feeding on native flowers in a counter-clockwise direction. To access the start of the run, head north from the parking area across Summer Street on the River Loop Trail.

There are two short spurs that run off the River Loop Trail. The first goes over a boardwalk and through a wet red maple forest on Red Maple Loop. The second, Observation Platform Spur, goes to an observation platform set up for enjoying the activity and sounds of the North River.

Overall, an easy route with a small incline.
