Runner Notes

Gravel with little to no technical terrain. Link up the Bridal Veil Falls Trail and Salado Canyon Trail for a longer run that provides a better taste of the canyon and the high desert area.

Description

This is another section of the Rails-to-Trails repurposed railroad bed. It is all doubletrack except for the first short section of singletrack. This trail meanders down the old Cloud-climbing railroad to a lookout shelter with a terrific view of the basin and White Sands National Monument.

Flora & Fauna

Run through piñon and juniper as well as some desert scrub. I have not seen much for wildlife on this short section.
