Description
Visitors will love exploring this route which features a natural waterfall, 1800's hotel ruins, and 1900's Sanatorium ruins. Overall, the trail is very pleasant and scenic as you get closer and closer to the base of the mountains. The way out is a steady, but not too steep climb. At just over a mile, the trail passes by Van Patten's Livery which was built in the late 1800s. Be sure to take some time to explore the ruins of Boyd's Sanatorium and
Van Patten's Dripping Springs Resort Ruins at the end of the trail before you head back to the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
This trail has an abundance of native plants. Sumacs, chollas, chilopsis, oaks, junipers, asclepias, columbines and evening primroses.
