Description
This is an obscure and poorly maintained trail that leads to a good view from Gaskill Peak. Knowing where to start is half the battle, My actual approach from southeast of the peak was a real bushwhack and scramble but I'll pass on presenting it in favor of my return on the actual trail. The last 10 meters of vertical to the peak is a bit tricky. It feels like one could, with a running start, claw up a short section shown in one of the pictures but I was unwilling to try this solo. I wandered around for a while trying to find another route without success. Fortunately two hikers packing a short stretch of rope arrived and we were quickly on the top. The peak offers good views in every direction including a view of nearby Lawson Peak.
As for parking, you are probably best off parking 0.5 miles southwest at the location indicated on the map.
