Description

The Wild Rivers State Trail is a gravel rail-trail that runs for over a hundred miles through several counties (Douglas, Washburn and Barron) in northwest Wisconsin. The setting is remote, making the route rich with wildlife and lakes. The route is intersected by rivers and creeks, including the Namakagon, a federally designated river that is part of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.

The Wild Rivers State Trail begins in the town of Rice Lake before passing through the towns of Haugen, Spponer, Trego, Minong, Gordon, and Solon Springs, eventually ending south of Superior. In Barron County, the trail can be accessed at the Tuscobia trail junction along Highway SS and at the junction of Highway SS and State Highway 53, with parking and pit toilets available at both locations. In Washburn County, the towns of Sarona, Spooner, Trego and Minong have parking access points to the trail. The trail can also be accessed at its northern trailhead in Douglas County, in the town of Gordon, just south of Superior.
