Description

From the trailhead right off Catalina Highway, ascend steep straightaways and rocky switchbacks through saguaros and prickly-pears for about a mile until the terrain levels out. Continue along the floor of Soldiers Canyon through the mesquite trees and eventually across the main drainage channel to the final section along the steep grassy ridge and descent into Gordon Hirabayashi Recreation Area.

Flora & Fauna

Saguaros, prickly-pears, agave, mesquite trees, and grassy hillsides abound! Redtail hawks, hummingbirds, roadrunners, raccoons, ringtails, skunks, the elusive coatimundi, cottontails, kangaroo rats, various lizards and rattlesnakes.
