The section around Mt Pleasant is shared with mountain bikers, and they have the Right of Way.
Most fences are crossed with wooden styles. Leave any gates open or closed as you find them.
Description
This is a singletrack from Sugarloaf to Godley Head. It is the eastern end of the Crater Rim Walkway. The Western section starts at the Sign of the Kiwi. There are several trails around Sugarloaf Hill connecting the Crater Rim Walkway and the Sign of the Kiwi.
This portion of the track parallels the Summit Road and several joint-use mountain bike tracks, but it is a much more challenging run as it goes up and down the major peaks rather than sidling around them.
The track is well-marked with waratahs (fence posts with orange plastic on top) and the original NZ Walkways wooden posts. The junctions with the road and other tracks are well signposted.
Flora & Fauna
Tussock grassland, with a section of native bush at the beginning.
