This track is the most direct route between the Summit Road to Taylor's Mistake and is ideal for completing a loop around Godley Head. From the Summit Road, the track drops gently down the hill to a point overlooking Taylor's Mistake. Here the official track switches back toward to east, but plenty of walkers and runners have created a trail straight down the hill towards the Godley Head Walkway. It is a steep descent, but I saw a guy running up it!
