Description
The Old Zoo Trail begins just off of the paved road next to the parking area for the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. Once on the dirt path, you'll run eastward for 1/10 of a mile and pass a diverging trail on your right. Follow the second dirt path you reach on your right to continue along the Old Zoo Trail. The trail will climb gradually for a moment and then you'll be able to see Bee Rock to the west.
The trail then continues through Spring Canyon, on the slopes of the old Griffith Park Zoo. You'll then cross a creek, which may or may not be flowing depending on the season, before reaching a 4-way junction with a paved road, the
Mineral Wells Trail, and the
Bee Rock Trail 9/10 of a mile from the trailhead. The Old Zoo Trail ends here and you can either return along the same route or link up with other trails at the junction.
