Description
The trail is best done as a loop using the North Fork Rd and Slide Gulch Rd or as an out and back to the summit. Rxhing it as a loop, it is recommended to park at the bottom of William H. Pogue NRT Trail and then run downstream on the North Fork Rd back to the first bridge on your left. Turn left onto Slide Gulch Rd. and climb this road to the junction with Corral Creek.
From here the trail climbs moderately to two summits. If you are just doing an out-and-back, then pick your summit to turn around at. The trail is very scenic down in the creek bottom before it pops out of the creek and climbs to the two summits. Once you have obtained the highest summit, you'll be looking down into the Sheep Creek drainage. This is a long downhill that can be steep and a little rough in places.
There are some long sections of steep sidehills; a couple switchbacks help ease the grade in places. At the junction with Sheep Creek and the William H. Pogue NRT Trail turn left if you parked at the end of the William H. Pogue NRT.
