From the parking lot, head up the obvious trail. After a hundred feet, turn right at the first trail crossing and you'll soon drop downhill until you pop out onto the road and cross over Nancy Rhodes Creek.

The trail continues through a lovely section to the left where it passes large loblolly pines as it stays above the creek. From here, you'll get a bird's-eye view on the old pumphouse and the switchback down toward the river where you pass the Valley Springs Road Access Trail and Laurel Bluffs Trail (East) on the right.

Stay left going upstream on the Eno River to pass more remnants of the old pumphouse that once brought water to Durham. Head up along the river until you hit Laurel Bluff Trail (Central) where you turn left. Go uphill a short while and you'll reconnect with the beginning of the trail.
