Description

Go down Tonto Creek Rd toward fish hatchery, cross small bridge and park on the right in the Horton Parking area. Run back across the bridge and up a dirt road into the campground, where you'll see the trailhead located at the top of the hill.

Climb all the way to the Highline Trail #31 (NRT). Your way will be consistently uphill, though up pretty modest grades, and some sections of the trail are rugged. When you hit the Highline Trail #31 (NRT), go left for about 100 yards and you'll see the creek. A recommendation is to follow the creek up another 100 yards and you'll see the spring where the creek comes out of the side of the mountain. It is beautiful at the top with some huge trees. After the uphill, this is a welcome reward!

Once you've had your fill of mountain views, turn around and follow the same trail out.
