Description

Powerline is a very diverse trail. It ranges from an easy connector up north to steep and rocky in the middle to rocky and rugged at the south end.

At the north end, it runs through a nice canyon to connect ATV Bypass and Chamisoso Trail (Trail 5184).

In the middle, chaos ensues, as the trail plunges down the mountain off Cedro Peak. Erosion is extreme. But if you need to get down off the mountain and back to the Chamisoso Trail (5184) trailhead in a hurry - say if weather is moving in - this section will do it.

To access this section from Cedro, start a bit to the east of the actual power poles and find the trail that meanders down and joins Delbert's Trail (Trail 5622). There is a route, not shown here, that has elaborate stone borders but this way includes big steps - which you may or may not be looking for. Below Delberts there are a few meanders. Beyond the ill-fated and abandoned truck, it gets very steep.

At the south end, the trail serves to link up 542, Rabbit Run, and Jackalope. Grades are moderate, but near the top of the ridge, it gets rocky.
