Description
RESERVATIONS REQUIRED, SEE RESTRICTIONS.
The Mason Trail and the
McReynolds Trail are on Colorado Springs Utilities Land. As such, certain rules exist; however this trail is a larger access trail to both Mason and Boehmer Reservoirs. While the trail has only about 700ft of climbing, most of it is above 11,000 ft so be prepared for a little lung time on the trail.
The trail begins off of the service road, just past the stationed ranger. A small climb in the first mile goes up above the Mason Reservoir. The trail then winds along the western edge of the reservoir in between the high altitude pines.
A gentle climb for the next two miles runs by a meadow between the two reservoirs. Another climb lies before Boehmer Reservoir. The out-and-back makes for about a nine-mile run.
As always, be prepared for weather changes as the trail is mostly above 11,000 ft.
