High Burnside Lower Forest Road

The Lower Road runs parallel to the main A9 highway through the forests west of Aviemore in the High Burnside area. There are a number of technical singletracks in this area, and many of them end on the Lower Road. So you'll have to use the Lower Road to make your way back to Aviemore. The Lower Road is more or less what you'd expect of a forest road with varying gravel and earthen base.

Take care crossing the A9 at the north side of the Lower Road and be mindful that the configuration may change with the ongoing twinning of the A9. At the southern terminus, you'll enter a recently constructed neighborhood which you can follow back to the Aviemore Orbital Trail.
