Description

Figueroa Trail is a beautiful, lightly used trail that can be combined with other trails to make a loop through the grass and wooded hills of Calero County Park. From the parking area, take Oak Cove Trail for 0.2 miles to find Figueroa Trail. Turn left onto Figueroa Trail. After about 0.15 miles there is a trail junction. Go right at this trail junction to continue on Figueroa Trail. The left spur of this trail junction ends almost immediately at a gate.

From here, Figueroa Trail follows McKean Road on the left (east), which then gives way to a local road and a few farm houses to the left. To the right (west), a grass and wooded hill rises above the trail. The trail is wide and fairly open here. About 0.8 miles from its trail start, Figueroa Trail veers right (west), leaves "civilization" behind, and heads up a wooded creek valley between two hills. This creek is Calero Creek, a seasonal creek that flows into Calero Reservoir.

After another 0.6 miles (1.4 miles from its trail start), Figueroa Trail passes two trails junctions; Canada Del Oro Trail is passed first on the left, followed by Vallecito Trail on the right. Figueroa Trail then begins to climb gradually. As it climbs, it emerges from the woods to go through grass hills with stands of trees, mostly oak trees.

Figueroa Trail then ends at a trail junction with Pena Trail and Serpentine Loop Trail.
