Overview
The route winds through a scenic forest just below the edge of the iconic Mogollon Rim. The Rim Country, which includes the area from Pine-Strawberry through Payson to Christopher Creek, is within the largest stand of beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees in the world.
Like the annual Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race, the Pine Trail Run is aimed at bringing in visitors to appreciate the beauty of the region, as well as to raise funds for the Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction programs of wildfire prevention, trail advocacy, and new trail development.
Description
Pine Trail Run will host three races in 2020: A 5K, 9 mile, and 50K race. The 5K and 9 mile courses follow scenic forest routes just below the Mogollon Rim, while the 50K course climbs and descends the Rim. The Rim Country, which includes the Pine-Strawberry area in Arizona, is within the largest stand of ponderosa pines in the world. The Pine Trail Run is aimed at bringing visitors to appreciate the beauty of the region and to raise funds for the non-profit Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction Inc.'s programs for wildfire prevention and new trails.
