Description
Parking is available at the trail starting point on a grassy area on the north side of the road.
The trail begins on an old dirt road passing small local fields maintained with horse or mule drawn implements. Follow this until you reach an area with more houses and turn left here. This is where the trail starts gaining elevation as you follow the dirt road that heads past more fields. As the trail turns north you'll see a see a rocky narrow trail going uphill to the left.
There are many views of the local area as you travel up the trail. After the second switch back there is a steep hillside on the left covered with Orchids. Shortly after that the trail begins to level off as it goes through the saddle and becomes a singletrack where wild flowers are numerous and last until late January. The trail then goes by a wooden lean-to used by the workers; usually there is clothing hanging from the beams. Follow the edge of the field and when you get to the other side of the field look for the trail on the right.
It dips into a small canyon on the right and the trail becomes steep. In places, the trail is covered with leaves which can make the going slippery. Follow the switchbacks down to a gate, open it, and go the left on the dirt road (after closing the gate). The road will take you back to the starting point.
